Eddie Izzard: Force Majeure
Force majeure (French, pronounced:[fɔʁs maʒœʁ]) "superior force", "chance occurrence, unavoidable accident"
One of the world's most famous and respected comedians, Eddie Izzard, is going to bring his record breaking live comedy show to Tokyo for the first time on the 25th of February, 2017!
Eddie Izzard has been hailed as one of the foremost standup comedians of his generation. Often referred to as "the lost Python" (a title bestowed by Monty Python themselves), Eddie's early career began in 1983 as a street performer in London's Covent Garden. In 1993 he took to the West End stage with his standup debut show, Live at the Ambassadors. Since then he's had a series of critically-acclaimed, sold out shows and tours, including Definite Article, Dress To Kill, Glorious, and Stripped, as well as numerous awards, including two Emmys. Eddie regularly performs gigs at Madison Square Garden Arena in New York, making him one of only four comedians to ever play that venue. In 2011 he became the first ever stand up to perform at the legendary Hollywood Bowl, and he has since returned. More recently he's had residencies and tours in Paris, Germany, and Spain, where Eddie performs his shows in French, German, and Spanish. He has plans to perform in Russian and Arabic.
World famous as a standup comedian, Eddie is also equally respected as a film, theatre, and TV actor. Eddie's stage appearances include Mamet's The Cryptogram, and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg in London and on Broadway, which won him several prestigious awards, including a Tony nomination for best actor. His film work includes Valkyrie alongside Tom Cruise, and Oceans Twelve and Oceans Thirteen opposite Brad Pitt and George Clooney. He has appeared as Long John Silver in the TV drama Treasure Island, and in the US hit drama The Riches. Other notable TV dramas include Hannibal and Lost Christmas. Later this year Eddie will lend his voice to the animated feature film Rock Dog. He has just finished starring in Victoria and Abdul, the Stephen Frears sequel to Mrs Brown, alongside Judi Dench.
Force Majeure is the most extensive comedy tour ever. Eddie began his mammoth journey around the globe in the spring of 2013. From Cardiff to Cape Town, Moscow to Montreal, Eddie will eventually visit over thirty countries throughout Europe, USA, Africa, and the far east, including countries such as Russia, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Nepal.
